Khursheda Rakhimova, Public Association “Office for Civil Freedons”: “I fight by peaceful means”

“I fight for human rights by peaceful means, such as law, legal education, raising awareness of the population and cooperation with the authorities.

I am driven by the goals of helping people, obtaining justice, restoring violated rights and  making people's lives a little  better.

It is very difficult to work as a human rights defender. In this area the most important is  to remain humane despite difficulties, not to lose the ability for compassion,  sympathy, to believe that life will change for the better.

I see the problems, difficulties and pressure my fellow defenders have to face.

I am sincerely glad that, in spite of everything, we continue our peaceful struggle, I welcome  every achievement, every moment of success which, in turn, has a positive impact on the human rights situation in our country. I am proud of that fact that these positive developments were possible not least due to the contribution of the human rights defenders”.
