Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with the UN Special Rapporteur on Torture

On 10 February, 2014 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirodjidin Aslov met with the UN Special Rapporteur on torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment of punishment Mr. Juan Méndez.

During the meeting, issues on implementation of the Convention against Torture and Recommendations of the Special Rapporteur on the Prevention of Torture in Tajikistan and accession to other international instruments on human rights were discussed.

The sides also exchanged views on strengthening cooperation with the UN treaty bodies in the field of human rights, improving national legislation and practice in the field of prevention of torture.
