Desktop calendar – on human rights

The Coalition of Civil Society against Torture and Impunity in Tajikistan will publish a desktop calendar of 2019 in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Human Rights Day.

Under each month of the year, the calendar contains one of the articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and two comments on it — by a civil servant and a Tajik human rights activist. Calendars will be distributed among the Coalition’s partners.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 10, 1948. This was the first universal international legal act in the history of humanity, which enshrines the fundamental rights and freedoms of the individual. This document is also the first in a series of universal international acts governing the human rights protection.

The binding thread of the declaration is the spirit of combating discrimination, the belief that all people are equal and have equal rights.

The Coalition of Civil Society against Torture and Impunity in Tajikistan is holding this event with the financial support of the Open Society Institute-Assistance Foundation in Tajikistan, the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the United Nations Development Program, the Sigrid Rausing Foundation and the EU Delegation in Tajikistan.
