Congratulations on two important December holidays - World Human Rights Day and the upcoming year 2023!
The Civil Society Coalition against Torture and Impunity in Tajikistan has sent written congratulations to its government and law enforcement partners, international organizations and embassies, as well as civil society and media representatives on two important December holidays saying – Happy World Human Rights Day and the upcoming year 2023!
The congratulatory letters were accompanied by a thematic greeting card and a thematic calendar on human rights. Each page of the calendar contains information related to freedom from torture and ill-treatment (what torture is according to international and national standards, what criminal responsibility is provided for this criminal act, etc.), as well as phone numbers of law enforcement agencies and the Coalition against Torture hotline to call and report cases of torture and ill-treatment. The calendars were produced with the financial support of the OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe.
It was noted in the congratulatory letters that World Human Rights Day has been celebrated on December 10 each year since 1950, at the proposal of the UN General Assembly. On 10 December 1948, the General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
Today, this document is called the main code of rights and freedoms, and large-scale events are held in different countries to remind people of the need to respect each other and the rights of citizens.
On this day it is necessary to continue joint efforts to protect the rights of citizens and prevent them from being violated, to promote the triumph of freedom, to form and educate future generations in the culture of human rights. In this work it is necessary to join the efforts of the State and civil society as a whole.
May this holiday be a symbol of peace and harmony in our society, built on the principles of democracy.
And in the new year 2023, we wish concord, kindness, optimism, health, prosperity and confidence in the future to everyone!
