Civil Society Coalition against Torture and impunity in Tajikistan
From September 2 to 13, 2024, the public organization “Human Rights Center,” in cooperation with the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights, organized a study visit to Poland for representatives of the Main Directorate for the Execution of Criminal Sentences under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan.
As part of the study visit, meetings were held with the leadership of Poland’s penitentiary system, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland (Eastern Department), and included site visits to the Correctional Facility in Przytuły Stare and the Detention Center in Radom. The delegation was also introduced to the operations of the Penitentiary System Training Center in Kule.
During the trip, several working meetings took place to discuss various issues concerning the advancement of penitentiary system reforms in Tajikistan.
These events were organized within the framework of the adopted Penal Reform Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030, with financial support from the Government of Switzerland in Tajikistan (SDC) and the United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF).
